By observing the body structure of ants, the designer simplified it into fluid curves and geometric contours. The continuous surface of the backrest and seat mimics the segmented feel of an ant's torso, lending the furniture a playful, biological form. This chair propelled Nordic minimalism onto the global stage, becoming a symbol of the fusion between modernism and functionalism. Its monocoque construction minimizes material waste, embodying sustainable design principles.

Features:

  • The chair body is crafted from a single piece of material, achieving both lightness and strength
  • Slender steel legs provide support, contrasting with the plywood to enhance modern industrial aesthetics
  • The integrated backrest and seat contour to the human form, offering comfortable support
  • The chair's stackable thickness saves space

Inspired by Nature, Refined Through Design

Drawing inspiration from the body structure of ants, the chair transforms organic movement into fluid curves and sculptural geometry. The seamless transition between backrest and seat echoes the segmented rhythm of nature, creating a silhouette that feels both playful and architecturally refined. More than a chair, it represents the timeless dialogue between Nordic minimalism and functional modern design.

Lightweight Form, Engineered Strength

Crafted from a single molded plywood shell, the chair achieves an exceptional balance between lightness, durability, and visual purity. Slender steel legs introduce a subtle industrial contrast while providing reliable everyday stability. The integrated seat and backrest naturally follow the contours of the body, offering supportive comfort designed for long, effortless sitting.

Functional Living with Lasting Simplicity

Designed for contemporary lifestyles, the chair adapts seamlessly to dining spaces, creative studios, cafés, and modern work environments. Its stackable construction allows efficient storage without compromising elegance, while the monocoque design minimizes material waste — reflecting a thoughtful approach to sustainable living and enduring functionality.
